What happens after you make a referral?

At Jigsaw, every referral is handled in a timely, compassionate and person-centred way. From the moment we receive a referral, our focus is on understanding each person's unique circumstances and providing the right support at the right time.

Prompt Review and Early Intervention

Every referral is reviewed within 7 working days, although we always aim to make contact sooner wherever possible.

Families often tell us that long waiting times have meant they couldn't access support until their situation had become more difficult.

"Waiting lists are too long and we need help before things get worse."

We understand that early intervention can make a real difference. By responding quickly, we can provide support to those who need us, helping to prevent challenges from escalating and improving outcomes for individuals and families.

Getting to Know You

One of our experienced practitioners will contact the individual or family to arrange an initial conversation.

Wherever possible, the same practitioner remains the main point of contact throughout the support journey, helping to build trust and provide continuity.

A Support Plan Designed Together

Following the initial conversation, we work together to develop a personalised support plan.

Every plan is co-created with the individual or family, not for them.

Support is tailored to each person's strengths, needs and goals, ensuring they remain at the heart of every decision.

Many people come to us after feeling overlooked or passed from one service to another. Our approach is different. We take the time to build meaningful relationships so that people feel heard, valued and genuinely involved in shaping the support they receive.

As one person told us:

"We want to feel part of something, not just be referred and left."

Support That Works for You

Support sessions begin once the plan has been agreed. Every session is flexible, relationship-based and tailored to the individual's changing needs, ensuring support remains relevant, responsive and focused on achieving positive outcomes.

Working Together

Jigsaw works closely with schools, Family Hubs, GPs, CAMHS, social care and community organisations to ensure children, young people and families receive joined-up support.

By working collaboratively, we can identify needs earlier, reduce barriers to accessing help and ensure people receive the right support at the right time.
